Dr. Kim LyVan and his dental professionals at Lee Family Dentistry offer root canal treatment and therapy services for New York and New Jersey.

When the tooth’s pulp is damaged, endodontic care is necessary. The pulp is located in the center of the tooth and in canals in the roots. Root canal treatment is needed for cases of infection caused by an untreated cavity which permits bacteria to enter the root canal. Formally known as pulpectomy, Root Canal Therapy is an endodontic treatment performed by a dental professional that removes infection or inflammation from the pulp chamber inside the tooth.

When a dental cavity and fractured or broken teeth are left untreated bacteria that lives in saliva can cause an infection that can kill or damage the pulp inside a tooth. If this is never treated, it will never heal and will worsen until treated.

Common Symptoms when Root Canal Therapy could be needed include:

- A toothache
- Sensitivity to hot, cold, sweet, or sour substances
