Dr. Kim LyVan and his dental professionals at Lee Family Dentistry offer services for dental crowns and bridges for New York and New Jersey.

A crown in the dental field refers to the restoration of teeth with the use of materials that are fabricated by indirect methods which are cemented in place. A crown is used to cap or sometimes completely cover a tooth. A badly damaged or decayed tooth can be restored by covering it with a crown or cap. A crown can also be used to hold a bridge in place or for cosmetic purposes. Crowns can be made of plastic, stainless steel or porcelain fused to stainless steel or can be all ceramic. If there is a need to replace one or more missing teeth, a bridge is a possibility. Bridges are held in place by natural teeth or even by implants. First a crown is made for each of the teeth on either side of the open space. Bridges are made of metal, porcelain or ceramic.

Generally, the teeth to be crowned are prepared by one of our dentists and records are then given to a dental technicion who will fabricate the crown or bridge which can then be inserted at a subsequent dental appointment.

As new technology and material chemistry has evolved, the Lee Family Dentistry evolves too to provide you with the most suiting methods of restoration.
